How to get an EPD
An Environmental Product Declaration is an independently verified, registered record of your product's life-cycle performance — aligned with EN ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2. Here is how the process works, from first contact to a published declaration.
The process in four steps
Life Cycle Assessment
An LCA is carried out per EN ISO 14040/14044 and the PCR. Supply it yourself, build it with us, or have it prepared turn-key from your technical data.
Independent verification
An independent verifier reviews the LCA and draft EPD against the PCR, EN 15804+A2 and EN ISO 14025. The decision is taken independently of the verification.
Registration & publication
The approved EPD is given a registration number and published in the public register — visible to architects, specifiers and procurement teams. Valid for five years.
What you need to prepare
- a clear definition of the product and its intended use;
- the product composition and a description of the manufacturing process;
- primary data from your plant (energy, materials, transport, waste) for the reference year;
- the relevant product standard (e.g. EN …);
- a contact person for technical questions during verification.

What an EPD costs
There is no single list price — an EPD is scoped to your product. The cost depends on:
- How many products are in scope — a single declaration, or a series that shares one Product Category Rule;
- Whether an LCA already exists — supply your own, or have it built from your technical data;
- Data readiness — how complete your plant data is (energy, materials, transport, waste) for the reference year;
- Product and supply-chain complexity — more inputs and processes mean more modelling.

A typical timeline once the data is in hand — most of it depends on how ready your inventory is:

In practice, most EPDs are completed in 6–12 weeks — faster when you already have an LCA, longer when plant data has to be collected from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an EPD cost?
There is no fixed list price — the cost is scoped to your product. The main drivers are how many products are in scope, whether a Life Cycle Assessment already exists or has to be built, how ready your plant data is, and the complexity of the product. You receive a fixed quote after the scoping step; scoping and pricing are free.
How long does it take to get an EPD?
Most EPDs are completed in 6–12 weeks. The longest stage is the Life Cycle Assessment, which depends on how complete your primary data is. It is faster when you already have an LCA and longer when plant data must be collected from scratch.
Do I need to have an LCA before I start?
No. Starting without an LCA is the normal case. We guide you through data collection using a structured inventory form, and the LCA can be built from your technical data — or you can supply your own if you already have one.
How long is an EPD valid?
A published EPD is valid for five years from its date of publication, provided the product and its manufacturing process do not change significantly.
Is an EPD from EPD Poland recognised in BREEAM, LEED and DGNB?
Yes. The declarations are prepared to EN 15804+A2 and EN ISO 14025 — the European core standards for construction-product EPDs — and independently verified, which makes them usable for credits in BREEAM, LEED and DGNB assessments.
Can I use a Polish-issued EPD in other countries?
Yes. EN 15804+A2 is the harmonised European standard for construction-product EPDs, so a declaration verified to it is recognised across the EU and EEA, not only in Poland.
What is the difference between an EPD and a product carbon footprint?
A carbon footprint reports a single indicator — global warming potential (GWP). An EPD is a full, multi-indicator life-cycle declaration (Type III per ISO 14025) that is independently verified and published. It includes GWP alongside other environmental indicators across the product life cycle.
Can one EPD cover several products?
Yes. Products that share the same Product Category Rule and are sufficiently similar can be grouped into one declaration — for example an average or representative EPD for a product family. We confirm this during scoping.
