The Challenge
Geosynthetics are petroleum-derived polymers used in long-life infrastructure — landfill liners, foundation drainage, soil and groundwater protection — where durability is essential but dependence on virgin plastic is under growing scrutiny. GRILTEX set out to cut reliance on primary polymer and to prove its membranes' performance with audited, comparable data.
The Solution
GRILTEX rebuilt its GXP PLUS dimpled membrane around 97.2% post-consumer recycled HDPE, runs a closed internal regrind loop that returns trims and off-spec material straight to the extruder, and powers its Zlotkowo site partly with on-site photovoltaic generation. The company invested in eco-innovative double-sided embossing technology with EU co-financing, under an ISO 9001 system. Its GXP PLUS and FORST BOR membranes carry verified EPDs (EN 15804+A2) published in the EPD Polska register.
The Result
GRILTEX is among the few geosynthetics makers in Central Europe with independently certified environmental data, strengthening its position in landfill, drainage and foundation tenders and in export markets such as Germany and Scandinavia.
