The Challenge
GRILTEX POLSKA manufactures high-performance geomembranes, drainage composites and protective foils used in landfill engineering, tunnel waterproofing, foundation protection and environmental remediation projects. Infrastructure clients — particularly in waste management and civil engineering — increasingly require verified lifecycle data for barrier and drainage materials. Without an EPD, GRILTEX risked losing specification positions on environmental infrastructure tenders where certified materials earn additional scoring points under green procurement frameworks.
The Solution
GRILTEX pursued EPD certification through EPD Polska for their FORST BOR PE membrane system and GXP PLUS drainage composite. The lifecycle assessment followed EN 15804+A2:2019 methodology, covering polymer resin sourcing, extrusion and lamination processes, quality testing, packaging and distribution. Independent verification confirmed environmental performance across all mandatory impact categories. Both products now carry published, publicly accessible Environmental Product Declarations registered on EPDportal.org.
The Result
With two verified EPDs, GRILTEX is now among a small group of geosynthetic manufacturers in Central Europe offering independently certified environmental data. The declarations have strengthened the company position in tenders for landfill capping, road construction drainage and building foundation protection, where specifiers can include GRILTEX products in environmental impact calculations with full confidence. The EPDs also support export market development, particularly in Germany and Scandinavia where environmental documentation for construction products is standard practice.
