The Challenge
RexBud manufactures cold-formed steel profiles and metal flashings used across Poland in commercial, industrial and residential construction. As sustainable building certification programmes like BREEAM and LEED gained traction among Polish developers, specifiers began requiring verified environmental data for every structural component — including secondary steel elements. Without an EPD, RexBud risked exclusion from green tenders and premium projects where environmental documentation is a prerequisite, not a bonus.
The Solution
RexBud commissioned a full cradle-to-gate lifecycle assessment through EPD Polska, covering steel coil sourcing, cold-forming and roll-forming processes, zinc and paint coating, packaging and delivery. The assessment followed EN 15804+A2:2019 methodology, with independent third-party verification of all declared environmental impact categories including global warming potential, acidification, eutrophication, and resource depletion. The resulting EPD covers the company entire portfolio of profiles and flashings.
The Result
The verified EPD positions RexBud as one of few Polish cold-formed steel manufacturers with independently certified environmental data. Architects and general contractors can now include RexBud products in green building calculations with confidence. The declaration has already contributed to successful bids on BREEAM-certified logistics and commercial projects, and strengthens RexBud presence in export markets where environmental product documentation is standard practice.
