Grid operators and utilities now write third-party verified LCA or EPD into tender conditions, in several cases as an obligation triggered by winning.
EPD for Electrical Equipment
Tenders for switchgear, transformers and electrical assemblies increasingly ask for a life-cycle assessment or an EPD verified by an independent third party, sometimes as a commitment to be met within months of award. An EPD prepared to the product-category rules for electrical products and verified to ISO 14025 answers that requirement directly.

Electrical products follow their own product-category rules — IEC 63366 and EN 50693 — rather than the construction core standard alone.
One declaration can cover a configurable product family where the product-category rules allow a representative product.
The standard
IEC 63366 — product category rules for electrical and electronic products, applied together with EN 50693 and, for high-voltage switchgear, the product-specific rules of IEC TS 62271-320. Every declaration is independently verified to EN ISO 14025 and published in our public register for five years.
