Why your buyers ask for an EPD

01

Public and green tenders increasingly score embodied carbon — a verified EPD is the accepted proof.

02

BREEAM, LEED and DGNB award credits for products that carry an independently verified EPD.

03

The Construction Products Regulation is making environmental (GWP) declaration the norm for construction products.

The standard

Applicable standard

EN 16757:2022 — the concrete-specific complement to the core standard EN 15804+A2:2019+A1:2021. Every declaration is independently verified to EN ISO 14025 and published in our public register for five years.

Frequently asked questions

Which standard applies to concrete EPDs?
Concrete EPDs follow EN 16757:2022 — the product-category rules for concrete and concrete elements — together with the core standard EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14025.
Can one EPD cover several concrete mixes?
Yes. Concrete recipes that share the same product-category rules can be grouped, for example by strength class, as average or representative declarations. We confirm grouping during scoping.
Do I need batching-plant data?
Yes. A credible concrete EPD uses primary data from your plant — cement, aggregates, admixtures, energy and transport — for the reference year.
